ARES training

SLO North county ARES training plan

Team training follows the ARRL ARES Standardized Training Plan for Emergency Communicators. Team members need to download and initiate their own copy of the ARES Standardized Training Individual Task Book, and begin working on the tasks. As skills are mastered, team members should document their progress in the task book, and have completed tasks signed off by the EC or DEC. All team members should strive to achieve Skill Level 2 in a reasonable amount of time. In addition, team members should regularly review and practice completed tasks to keep their skills current.

Additional local training requirements and skills may be added to the Task Book based on the needs of our served agencies.

CERT Training is strongly recommended for all ARES members.

digital messaging

Digital messaging is a key skill for EMCOMM. SLO ARES uses the Winlink System for digital messaging, and team members should master its use. Follow the links below for further information and training videos.
